About the Event

The Compassionate Care Hospice Society is inviting everyone to join us in a Memorial Rock Painting event hosted by some of our local dedicated hospice volunteers, Michele King and Nichole Stewart, (The Oily Hippy). This event is designed to honour our past loved ones by painting rocks in their memory. Feel free to paint along at home during our online event or come join us during our in-person painting event!

Art therapy is one of many ways to bring closure after the loss of a loved one. Our goal is to help our community in expressing themselves, in a healthy way, while navigating through the grieving process. Rock painting welcomes any age group and can be greatly beneficial in aiding children with expressing their emotions during or after a great loss.

One of our goals within our hospice society is to someday create a memorial rock garden, in which our community can add to and enjoy, so that we can showcase our beautiful pieces of art. We ask that you hold onto your painted memorial rock and store in a safe place, in hopes that we can create a community memorial rock garden within Rocky Mountain House someday in the near future.

With our in-person event, the Compassionate Care Hospice Society will provide a space where you can come alone, with a friend, or with your family to engage in painting a memorial rock. We ask that you bring your own painting supplies as to comply with AHS safety restrictions and recommendations regarding Covid 19. We will be following all recommendations and restrictions as per the AHS Health Inspector including social distancing, proper sanitization of rock painting areas, direction markers of public flow, and controlling amount of people partaking during the in person event.

Hope you can make it! Looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful works of art!
